About Drafting, Pleadings and Appearances


Drafting means an act of preparing the Legal Documents like agreements, contracts, deeds, etc. It refers to the writing of legal documents. This document can either be an affidavit, a written statement, a petition, or a plaint. Proper understanding of drafting cannot be realised unless the nexus between the Law, the facts and the language is fully understood and accepted.Pleading refers to a legal document filed in a lawsuit. This can be a document pertaining to the initiation of litigation or a document in response to this initiation. Appearances refers to the art of advocacy and court craft to appear before judicial or semi judicial authorities. 
Drafting of deeds and documents for various purposes in a company usually forms part of multifaceted duties of the Company Secretary. Practical orientation of drafting is expected at this level.
